People were either amazed by Jesus, as seen in Matthew chapter 7 or fearful of him, as seen in Matthew Chapter 8.  The people recognised Jesus's authority by his words and He teaches as one who has authority.  When we understand Jesus has authority over our lives, it means we can trust in Him. There is a call for us to get to know the Jesus that is revealed to us in the Gospels. The Jesus that has authority over all.
